This policy describes how Verity Shield (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application and related online services (together, the “Services”). It is intended to support transparency, including for app store disclosures (such as Google Play’s Data safety form).
This page is the privacy notice for the Verity Shield app and this website.
The data controller for Verity Shield is Verity Business Enterprise. Privacy contact: nanabonsuprempeh@gmail.com.
Verity Shield helps users check phone numbers against a community-sourced fraud database, report suspected fraud, and receive on-device alerts related to incoming calls and SMS where you grant permissions. Processing depends on the features you enable.
Categories below reflect the current product design. If we add analytics SDKs, ads, or new features, we will update this policy.
| Category | Examples | Purpose (summary) |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers (pseudonymous) | App-generated user and device identifiers stored on the device and sent as HTTP headers (x-user-id, x-device-id) to our API. |
Rate limiting, abuse prevention, trust scoring, and service operations. |
| Phone numbers | Numbers you search or report; numbers involved in incoming calls/SMS when you grant phone/SMS-related permissions for fraud checking. | Lookup, reporting, moderation, and displaying risk information. |
| SMS / messaging-related data | Information the app accesses as permitted by the OS and your grants (e.g. sender/metadata as implemented) to correlate with fraud signals. | Fraud detection and community protection. |
| Call / telephony-related data | Caller or call state information as permitted for incoming-call screening and alerts. | Fraud alerts and number matching. |
| Photos (optional) | Images you choose to attach to a fraud report. | Evidence for moderator review; stored and served via our API. |
| Report content | Category, description, and related fields you submit. | Moderation, enforcement, and improving community data quality. |
| Technical / log data | IP address, timestamps, and server logs when you use the API; standard Android/OS behaviour. | Security, debugging, and legal compliance. |
Depending on your device and choices, the app may request permissions such as phone state, call log, SMS, notifications, display over other apps, accessibility-related access (where used only as disclosed in-app to read on-screen caller information on certain devices), foreground service, and battery optimisation exemptions. These support fraud alerts and reliability. You can revoke permissions in system settings; some features may stop working.
We use HTTPS for data in transit between the app and our API where the connection is to our servers.
We rely on performance of a contract (providing the Services), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, improving the Services), consent where required (e.g. certain permissions or optional processing), and legal obligation where applicable.
We retain information as long as necessary to operate the Services, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Specific retention periods may depend on moderation status and backups.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, rectify, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. To exercise rights, contact nanabonsuprempeh@gmail.com. We may need to verify your request.
Deletion: describe your request clearly (e.g. app identifiers, numbers, or reports). We may retain certain data where law or legitimate interests require.
Verity Shield is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe we have collected a child’s data, contact us.
Our servers or processors may be located outside your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards.
We may update this policy; we will post the new date and, where required, provide additional notice.
